O-toso
Like the Ozini, this drink is very traditional in these festivities. And it is typical of the month of December for centuries, to drink a kind of hot sake called o-toso; sake is the traditional alcoholic drink of this country made with rice.
This alcoholic drink is prepared with cinnamon, pepper and rhubarb. Mixed in a saucepan, it is heated and strained before serving and swallowing. The o-toso is taken as a family, always in company as it is the custom of each year.
It is belived that when you do this, you are protecting your home and your loved ones against illnesses and bad luck; like the evil spirits that are around the one who drink it, as well asthe bad energies of other people.
