Ozoni
As we have well seen during the blog, the New Year's is like Christmas in Japan, that is why we have included this dish taht is typical New Year's specialty where we will mention the importance of the dish in the country for its population and its customs.
Ozoni is a soup containing mochi, sticky boiled rice that is mashed and presented in a sort of white dumpling. This dish is savored on the first day of the year with the hope that everything will go well for the next twelve months.
Although there are many variations, the dish usually consists of chicken and various vegetables, and sometimes tofu as well. Vegetables can range from carrots, shitake mushrooms, daikon, and much more.
